AppSource pushes updates automatically
Microsoft AppSource is automatically updating all dashboards containing a 3DBI visual with a bugged version of the 3DBI visual. Inserting the original version from file (located in your 3DBI for Revit or SketchUp installation) is not stopping AppSource from enforcing Power BI to use the version that is currently active on AppSource.
We recently started experimenting with AppSource and the extra functionality it comes with. We did not know AppSource would start to automatically push the versions we uploaded to it to existing dashboards. It seems to take 2 to 3 weeks between us uploading to AppSource and AppSource pushing the versions to existing dashboards. For the past 3 weeks we have been experimenting and 2 days ago we started noticing automated updates. It came as a total surprise. We immediatly took action and uploaded a non-experimental version to AppSource 24 hours ago. But, as we have seen, it can take 2 to 3 weeks before this version will become active on AppSource and will be distributed automatically. We will make sure to take this into account for future updates.
There are 2 solutions:
1. Download a temporary offline version of the 3DBI visual and update your report manually to use this variant. Please notice this is a temporary solution and will require you to switch back to the original version of the 3DBI visual that will be hosted on AppSource once version 2.2 becomes active on AppSource.
Once downloaded, unpack the .zip in which you will find a .pbiviz file.
Next, go to your dashboard and import the .pbiviz file.
Finally, select the 3DBI visual on your dashboard and click the icon of the freshly imported (temporary) 3DBI visual.
2. Another solution is to wait for version 2.2 to become active on AppSource. This version has been uploaded Augusth 17th. According to our communication with AppSource support it can roughly take 2 to 3 weeks before that version will become active on AppSource. Once that version becomes active all your reports will also automatically update to that version, just like it did to the current (experimental) version.
